This position is ideal for a professional with a strong background working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities in residential or community-based settings. The successful candidate will conduct comprehensive resident assessments, review service delivery, interview individuals and their families, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote quality care and person-centered services. Although the position is primarily remote, the reviewer will conduct weekly visits to residents located throughout Washington, DC. Candidates must be current District of Columbia residents.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) to assess their strengths, needs, goals, and quality of care.
  • Review resident records, assessments, and service documentation to ensure services are appropriate and person-centered.
  • Monitor resident progress and identify opportunities to improve service delivery and outcomes.
  • Evaluate compliance with individualized service plans and applicable regulations.
  • Conduct interviews with residents, family members, guardians, and caregivers to evaluate satisfaction with services and gather meaningful feedback.
  • Observe residential environments and service delivery to ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Advocate for resident rights, dignity, independence, and community inclusion.
  • Collaborate with case managers, residential providers, clinicians, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and enhance individualized service plans.
  • Provide recommendations to improve resident outcomes and overall quality of care.
  • Participate in care planning meetings and communicate findings effectively.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed documentation of assessments, interviews, and review findings.
  • Prepare professional reports summarizing observations, recommendations, and required follow-up actions.
  • Ensure compliance with District of Columbia regulations, Medicaid requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and agency standards.
  • Serve as a liaison with Medicaid, Medicare, residential providers, and community agencies regarding documentation and service requirements.
  • Assist providers in understanding regulatory expectations and best practices.
  • Remain current on federal, state, and local regulations affecting IDD services.
  • Provide guidance and education to residential staff regarding person-centered supports, documentation standards, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Stay informed on emerging best practices and evidence-based approaches in the field of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
