Position Overview
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a vital role in supporting clients throughout their treatment journey. This position is responsible for monitoring client safety, facilitating daily activities, and providing direct support to ensure a therapeutic and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and document client behavior, safety, and progress throughout shifts
- Provide direct supervision and support to clients in a residential or outpatient setting
- Assist with daily activities, including meals, hygiene, and structured programming
- Facilitate or support group sessions and recreational activities as needed
- Conduct routine room checks and ensure compliance with program rules
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with company policies
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff regarding client status and concerns
- De-escalate situations and support clients in crisis when necessary
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment at all times
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in behavioral health, mental health, or substance abuse treatment strongly preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations
- Basic computer skills for documentation
