Position Overview
NRG Controls is seeking a skilled Life Safety (Fire Alarm Technician) to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of fire alarm systems to help safeguard people and property. Key Responsibilities
- Install, program, and test fire alarm systems and related life safety equipment in commercial and residential settings for NRG Controls clients.
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems.
- Diagnose and resolve issues with fire alarm devices, panels, and associated wiring.
- Respond to emergency service requests and repair calls promptly and professionally.
- Document all work performed, including service reports, inspection forms, and compliance records.
- Ensure all work meets NFPA codes, local regulations, and NRG Controls' standards.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and other trades to facilitate efficient installation and service processes.
- Educate customers on system operation, maintenance requirements, and safety protocols.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Fire Alarm Certifications preferred; NICET 2 certification is highly valued.
- Strong understanding of NFPA codes, local, state, and national fire safety standards.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication and documentation abilities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working on ladders, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions.
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity to work with small components and wiring.
Work Environment
The Fire Alarm Technician at NRG Controls works in a variety of settings, including construction sites, occupied buildings, and outdoor environments. The role may require travel to different job locations and occasional overtime or on-call hours to respond to emergencies.
