ESL Instructor
Location: Seguin, TX
Pay: $40/hr.
Work Schedule
- Total Hours Per Week: 7–15 hours
- Contract Length: 14 weeks (renewable)
Position Overview
This position involves teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) and/or English for Specific Purposes (ESP) to frontline team members at a *** facility. The instructor will support language development, workplace communication, and professional growth through structured lessons and learner-centered instruction.
Responsibilities
- Develop instructional materials and lesson plans for assigned courses
- Attend Upward Academy partner meetings
- Participate in all faculty meetings and required trainings
- Support recruitment events and end-of-term activities
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, grading, and progress tracking
Required Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of ESL teaching strategies, including grammar, reading, writing, listening, and speaking
- Native fluency and excellent command of written and spoken English
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Teaching, Education, or a related field
- TESOL certification
- Minimum of 3 years of ESL teaching experience (adult education preferred)
- Strong classroom management, organizational, and lesson-planning skills
- Ability to provide clear, concise instructions and explanations
- Proficiency in a second language
- Experience teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) (e.g., Business, Computers, Engineering, Economics, etc.)
- Cross-cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse learner populations
- Strong technology skills and experience integrating digital tools into instruction
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
