What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Engineer position at NPX ONE?
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES: Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.
• Carries out process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training.
• Improves manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency.
• Prepares and presents plans for the above and coordinates deployment including training of team members.
• Assists plant management in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control and training.
• Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
• Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.
• Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
• Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
• Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
• Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams.
• All other related duties as required.
EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
• Education/Work Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering or related field with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in manufacturing process support role. Automation integration and project management experience preferred.
• Language Ability: Must have the interpersonal and communication skills to work in a high employee involvement environment translating items into effective change for improvement.
• Math Ability: Proficient mathematical and computer skills
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to systematically work through problems and analysis, can work with deadlines individually or as part of a team.
• Computer Skills: Computer assisted design (CAD) proficiency. Visual Basic, VBA for MS Excel, as well as ERP experience/skills desired, but not required
• Travel Requirements: Ability to travel as required but expected to be approximately less than ten (10%) percent of the time.
• Other (including certifications and licenses): Must be skilled at the practical application of engineering principles in analyzing and developing solutions for process problems and limitations. Must be a self-starter capable of organizing work without direct supervision. Successful practice in the areas of process troubleshooting, root cause analysis, process optimization, implementation of statistical process control, implementing permanent corrective actions and start-ups of new process equipment is preferred. Experience and knowledge with handling a variety of resins, such as PS, PP, PE, LLDPE, EVOH and SBC’s is a plus. Experience with extruding and/or thermoforming PS foam is desired. Prior experience and/or training in Lean Manufacturing is required. Previous experience in an SQF certified facility a plus.
