We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our San Jose team. The Tax Manager will oversee complex engagements, mentor staff, and ensure all tax returns are completed accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform technical tax reviews and approvals of complex tax returns and governmental examinations.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and complete preparation and delivery of client tax returns.
- Participate in client meetings and tax planning efforts, supporting the Audit & Advisory (A&A) Department with larger clients.
- Act as a technical resource for tax preparers and A&A staff on complex tax matters.
- Manage governmental tax examinations and represent clients before taxing authorities when needed.
- Research and evaluate tax preparation and research software for potential firm adoption.
- Ensure efficient workflow of tax returns within the preparation system.
- Participate in business development efforts through networking, referrals, and community involvement.
- Supervise and mentor tax staff, including Supervising Seniors, Seniors, Semi-Seniors, and Staff Accountants.
- Oversee training, coaching, and performance evaluations within the tax department.
Qualifications
- 57 years experience in public accounting with demonstrated progression in complexity, tax scope, and research.
- Strong experience with entity tax returns (S Corporations and LLCs).
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience managing tax preparers.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting required; Masters degree in Taxation preferred.
- Active CPA license required.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
