Electrical Controls Engineer II

Job Description

  • Execute plant support, troubleshooting, and lead improvement projects for the Richmond, IN facility.
  • Assist the Richmond plant in meeting or exceeding stated operational, environmental, and safety goals.
  • Mentor Junior Engineers and Electricians and provide training.
  • Handle plant projects from start to finish on a broad range of industrial electrical and control system manufacturing projects.
  • Prepare and review technical electrical specifications for equipment, processes, and projects.
  • Troubleshoot and correct operational issues.
  • Participate in/lead root cause corrective actions to prevent recurrence of issues.
  • Provide on-call support to plant operations for electrical and controls issues.
  • Assist in the review and implementation of Corporate Specifications and Standards.
  • Track and prioritize issues in conjunction with other departments.
  • Assist the facility with manufacturing operations and the execution of electrical safety initiatives.
  • Maintain communication with management and project customers regarding project status, problems, and changes.
  • Coordinate, review, provide oversight, and manage external engineering resources and consultants as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in control systems engineering in a continuous and/or discrete manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated electrical and control system engineering capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide solutions to basic project and process engineering problems.
  • Solid knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI applications including programming and communications within enterprise and control networked systems.
  • Knowledge of DCS/SCADA systems.
  • Ability to read/understand electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Knowledge in the application of the NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace concerning arc flash energy and shock hazards.
  • Ability to manage and support multiple (1-3) projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated success managing projects ranging from $50k to $200k.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in working collaboratively with internal and external engineering resources.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated drive and initiative to complete assigned tasks and seek out improvement opportunities.
  • Ability to design and execute projects within North America, requiring travel (10%).
