We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Manager to join our growing team in our Birmingham, Alabama office. This position at NP Strategy is designed to introduce individuals to a diverse range of client and team services while fostering the growth and expansion of their skill sets.
This position at NP Strategy is ideal for motivated communications professionals with several years of hands-on experience in strategic communications and public relations who are ready to refine their craft, elevate client brands, and play a proactive role in a vibrant team's success. The ideal candidate brings a track record of building brand awareness and reputation at scale — particularly for organizations with wide national footprints — and understands how to translate strategic vision into measurable visibility and impact.
Client Management
- Serve as a strategist and day-to-day manager for current and incoming NP Strategy clients, partnering closely with each client to develop all-encompassing messaging, thought leadership, and communication plans
- Execute strategic communication plans by going beyond individual tactics to build cohesive, integrated strategies that expand a client's reach, deepen their public presence, and grow their footprint across every relevant audience and channel.
- Work closely with NP Strategy client teams and team leads to bring client work products to life through integrated communications services - including strategic communications, media relations, stakeholder engagement, thought leadership, digital and social media engagement, and proactive earned media strategies.
- Candidates should have demonstrated experience developing and executing full-scope brand awareness and communications strategies for clients operating across multiple regions or markets including the ability to build and sustain relationships with journalists, editors, and producers at both the local and national level.
- Meet annual billable and collections goals.
Team Management
- Manage assigned team members with intention to actively support their growth in both service skills and leadership capabilities and serve as a genuine advocate for their careers.
- Conduct at least monthly check-ins to review feedback and discuss strengths and areas for development.
- Communicate team member requests and training needs to NP Strategy leadership.
- Remain flexible and willing to work outside standard hours when client or team project goals require it.
Professional and Business Development
- Invest professional development resources in deepening core communications competencies or building new ones, with an eye toward emerging best practices in brand building, thought leadership, and reputation management.
- Leverage personal and professional relationships to identify and develop new business opportunities for NP Strategy.
- This includes cultivating relationships with C-suite executives and senior leaders, both as prospective clients and as strategic partners, recognizing that executive relationships are often the foundation for lasting business growth.
- Engage actively with the broader community to position our firm as a valued partner for local and regional businesses, and to surface opportunities where the firm's expertise can make a meaningful difference.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, political science, or a related field
- Internship or work experience in communications, PR, public affairs, or related fields
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail
- Graphic design experience is preferred but not required
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Curious, proactive, and eager to learn in a team-oriented environment
- Demonstrated interest in current events, policy, or media landscapes
