Position Summary
NTI is seeking a motivated IT Field Technician to join our growing technical services team. This full-time, on-site position is based in Columbia, Maryland, supporting clients throughout the surrounding region.
As an IT Field Technician, you will provide hands-on technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and network-connected equipment. You'll be responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining client systems while delivering exceptional customer service during on-site visits.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with end users, and supporting a variety of technologies in different business environments. You'll collaborate closely with NTI's Service Desk, Systems Engineers, and Project Team to ensure clients receive timely, professional support.
Responsibilities
· Provide on-site desktop, laptop, printer, and peripheral support for client environments.
· Install, configure, and deploy new hardware and software.
· Diagnose and resolve Windows operating system, Microsoft 365, application, and hardware issues.
· Troubleshoot basic networking issues involving wired and wireless connectivity.
· Perform workstation replacements, upgrades, imaging, and user migrations.
· Install and troubleshoot printers, scanners, and other office technology.
· Document work performed, resolutions, and recommendations within NTI's service ticketing system.
· Escalate complex issues to senior engineers while maintaining ownership of customer communication.
· Deliver outstanding customer service while maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor.
· Follow NTI standards, security policies, and industry best practices during all client engagements.
· Participate in occasional project work, office moves, technology refreshes, and after-hours maintenance as needed.
Qualifications
Required
· 2 years of hands-on IT support experience in a desktop support, field technician, or help desk role.
· Strong troubleshooting skills with Windows desktop operating systems.
· Experience supporting desktop and laptop hardware, printers, and common business applications.
· Basic understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, and VPN connectivity.
· Experience with Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and OneDrive.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Strong organizational and time management abilities with the capability to manage multiple priorities.
· Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a technical team.
· Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to client locations throughout Central Maryland.
· Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Preferred
· Experience working for a Managed Services Provider (MSP).
· Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune, and Active Directory.
· Experience with remote support tools and ticketing systems.
· Basic understanding of firewalls, switches, and wireless networking.
· CompTIA A , Network , Microsoft, or similar industry certifications.
