What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Controller position at NOW CFO?
We're in search of a driven and ambitious Controller to join our client's industrial service team as the head of accounting and finance. Our client is poised for substantial growth in the next 3-5 years, and they need a proactive individual who can think outside the box and drive the team forward. This individual will be in the leadership circle, providing financial guidance and support to the President. This role presents an incredible opportunity to lead and mold the department while crafting the financial narrative.
- This role will be remote until the company opens an office in SLC metro area in the next year or so. Then it will be hybrid/onsite.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of the accounting and finance department, including personnel supervision, system optimization, and procedural oversight.
- Create financial forecasts and budgets collaboratively with the key stakeholders and track financial performance by analyzing discrepancies and implementing necessary corrective measures.
- Mentor and lead the accounting department staff. This means hands-on leadership and passion for getting the team to a new level of themselves.
- Develop strategic plans to achieve departmental goals and facilitate regular meetings to uphold engagement and productivity levels.
- Create and execute an organizational structure within the department aimed at attaining operational and financial goals.
- Perform internal and external audits to ensure financial integrity and accuracy.
- Work closely with area managers and other executives to uphold budget control and financial accountability.
- Supervise and complete the implementation of the new ERP system, ensuring a smooth transition and completing training for all users as needed.
- Ensure prompt and precise handling of payroll, accounts payable, and receivable, while also upholding meticulous financial record-keeping.
- Assisting the CEO and key stakeholders with future acquisitions by reviewing and analyzing acquiring company’s financial data.
- Focus on driving low days sales outstanding (DSO) through running a weekly AR meeting to uncover issues, such as certified payroll, to resolve to timely collections.
Qualifications
- Eagerness to dive deep into accounting intricacies and overhaul the department comprehensively. This entails hands-on expertise in general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, work in progress (WIP), and more.
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or related field. A master’s degree and/or CPA is a big plus!
- A strong call to action and a belief that nothing is beneath them. If AR Days is a problem, you are the kind of person who grabs a phone, not holds a meeting.
- Direct involvement in leadership roles coupled with a genuine enthusiasm for enhancing team strengths and addressing weaknesses.
- Desire to follow-up to ensure standards are followed by all.
- ERP Implementation and/or multiple ERP system experience required.
- Excellent time management, attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both verbal and written.

Salary : $110,000 - $150,000
