Summary
The Forklift Operator Position is responsible for operating Powered Industrial Vehicles for the purpose of material handling. The Forklift Operator will provide his/her department with the proper and safe support needed to complete departmental task. reports issues, participates in team huddles, the CIL (Clean, Inspect, Lubricate) process, and helps drive improvement within the their team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean work Area
- Accurately selecting product according to the pick instructions
- Perform picking/packing duties in an efficient manner that meets service standards.
- Operation of Radio Frequency (RF) terminals for various functions including picking, quality, inventory, shipping, etc.
- Determine the appropriate destination of product by scanning cases, reading labels and charts, verifying numbers and sort cases and pallets accordingly.
- Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
- Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee accuracy of inventory.
- Participate in physical inventories and cycle counts.
- Check or count products for accuracy and or damage.
- Become knowledgeable of the responsibilities, procedures and duties of other areas of the warehouse if necessary.
- Completion of required paperwork and documentation
- Participate in Process Improvement activities
- Participate in team forums, huddles, escalation sessions, and safety & training sessions (Kaizen Events, Gemba Walks, Safety Committee.
- Notify Supervisor of any problems with lab equipment and product deviations.
- Performs repetitive tasks and follows instructions.
- Adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) that are in effect assuring the quality and quantity of product produced and those producing it.
- Adhere to Lock Out Tag Out Safety Standards
- Understand and maintain high standards of tidiness and organization in line with good 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) practice
- Follow all applicable safety policies and procedures
- Support, comply, and ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations including Food Defense, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures.
- Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
- Some Forklift experience preferred with food manufacturing desirable
- Strong work ethic and organizational skills
- Able to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Able to work on feet for extended periods of time
- Reliable mode of transportation
- Must be able to follow written procedures.
- Must be able to perform repetitive tasks and follow instructions.
- Basic math knowledge.
- Participate and recommend solutions to common quality & food safety issues.
- Take action to continuously improve his/her process targets.
- Adhere/ follow the food safety programs in the department including GMPs.
- Proficient reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is desirable.
