What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Business Development - CRO position at Novum Pharmaceutical Research Services?
The ideal candidate will direct the business development activities of the organization to identify and foster new business relationships in the early and late phase clinical trial services compatible with Novum’s business model and strategic objectives. The candidate should demonstrate a solid track record of identifying and closing business opportunities in North America, primarily focusing on Phase-1 studies with NCE and Biosimilar studies in healthy volunteers. The BD executive will work closely with Novums management team and scientific leads to optimize the identification of business opportunities with new clients as well as to expand the services provided to current clients.
Novum conducts an extensive range of early and late phase complex studies including providing state of art bioanalytical services, it manages clinical studies that require large patient populations in multiple disease states covering a broad range of therapeutic areas and indications.
Responsibilities
- Directs business development activities to increase sales to new clients, from identification through contract award.
- Target new business: USD$ 10 Million on first year.
- Actively acquires new clients for future business and builds new relationships.
- Responds to and follows up on timely delivery of requests for proposals. Working with the proposals team and management, evaluates progress towards achieving new business development and corporate revenue goals.
- Participates with senior Novum management team to develop new strategies and to quantify and implement short-and-long-term growth objectives for the company.
- Works with marketing and operations to identify target markets, services, and specific clients that match the company’s capabilities.
- Manages the conduct of bid defense meetings, with selected operations team members.
- Creates agendas, sales reports, and conducts regular business development meetings with the Novum management team.
- Works with accounting department to project backlog and pipeline.
- Meets with clients periodically to maintain and improve relationships.
- Arranges meetings for senior management, as necessary, to assist in closing projects with new clients and solidifying existing client relationships.
- Works with Marketing to determine annual conference attendance schedule and editorial calendar for website content.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, equivalent in a scientific discipline.
- 2 years business development experience in a CRO.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated track record of increasing revenue through generation of leads
- Established contacts in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech Industry.
- Solid understanding of the clinical development process.
- Able to travel up to 2 weeks per month. Some international travel may be required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) etc.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
Salary : $125,000 - $170,000
