Job Title: Systems Engineer I

Position Summary:
The Systems Engineer I will support the planning, development, and execution of automation and controls projects within a manufacturing environment. This role requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to system design, implementation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute smaller projects or defined portions of larger projects with minimal guidance, including development of detailed and accurate project schedules.
- Interface with development teams, engineering groups, technical support teams, and external partners to ensure successful project execution.
- Design, develop, and support large-scale PLC programs, HMI systems, vision systems, and servo systems.
- Collaborate with design engineers, technicians, plant personnel, and vendors to support the design, fabrication, and assembly of manufacturing equipment.
- Support cost estimation activities for control engineering components of capital projects and assist with budget tracking and expenditure monitoring.
- Manage and prioritize multiple tasks across multiple concurrent projects.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support standardization efforts related to controls technologies and programming practices.
- Investigate and analyze field issues, develop corrective actions, and implement design improvements.
- Coordinate and provide technical direction to engineers and technicians as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline with 3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience working in or supporting a dynamic manufacturing or production environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of fundamental engineering principles across multiple disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects and direct technician activities effectively.
- Knowledge of manufacturing equipment electrical and pneumatic systems.
- Hands-on experience with electrical and control system design using relevant CAD software (SolidWorks Electrical preferred).
- Experience with Rockwell Automation platforms, including RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000, and HMI systems (FactoryTalk View Studio ME/SE).
- Exposure to robotic programming (Fanuc, Omron, Staubli), vision systems (Cognex), and regulated or healthcare manufacturing environments is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and recommend solutions effectively.
- Ability to collaborate within cross-functional teams and contribute to shared objectives.
- Proven capability to develop solutions aligned with business goals, technical requirements, and cost considerations.
