Business Development Manager


Environmental Health & Consulting | Hybrid | Southern California - Long Beach, Irvine, Tustin & San Diego


You're the person who builds the pipeline, not just works it. Who can walk into a room with a hospital facilities director, a construction H&S manager, or a property portfolio owner and leave with a real business opportunity.


This is a client-facing commercial role responsible for proactive, consultative, sector-focused growth.


What you'll experience:

You'll own growth across environmental consulting services. Here are three high-priority sectors where environmental health risk is a constant, recurring conversation:


Healthcare - Industrial Hygiene, ICRA-PCRA, EH&S, and exposure work inside hospitals, labs and life sciences facilities. Decision cycles are complex, relationships run deep, and retention is high once you're in.


Construction & Real Estate - Hazardous Building Materials, abatement, and pre-demolition work with developers, general contractors, and asset managers who move fast and need a partner who can keep up.


Property, Hospitality & Legal/Insurance - Water/Legionella management, mold, moisture, and fire/smoke response. Recurring service needs across managed portfolios and a buyer who values speed and reliability above all else.


You'll run a consultative, value-based sales process from discovery through proposal strategy and close backed by technical Practice Leads, technical SMEs, Senior Project Managers and Branch Directors who'll join you when it counts.


You'll need:

  • 7 years of B2B business development or consultative sales with measurable revenue accountability
  • A track record originating and closing in professional services, EHS, industrial hygiene, environmental consulting, or construction-adjacent technical services
  • Existing relationships or genuine sector fluency in healthcare, construction, property management, or legal/insurance
  • CRM pipeline discipline - Salesforce or equivalent
  • Willingness to travel nationally 50–60% for client meetings, conferences, and market development


Preferred:

  • Experience selling environmental consulting, industrial hygiene, EHS, hazardous building materials, indoor air quality, mold and moisture, water quality, exposure assessment and control, safety, or related technical services
  • Experience with key account planning, public procurement pursuits, RFQ/RFP strategy, conference-based business development, or multi-office client coordination
  • Experience transitioning a services business from project-based or residential-volume work toward regional or national commercial and institutional accounts
  • Track record of building $1M in annual originated revenue across a portfolio of mid-market B2B relationships and the pipeline discipline to scale that toward $3M–$5M over 2-3 year horizon
  • Comfortable managing a high-volume pipeline of smaller engagements ($10K–$50K average deal size) where relationship density, referral development, and account expansion drive cumulative revenue growth
  • Capable of a longer development runway on strategic accounts while maintaining near-term revenue momentum from existing work
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Communications, or a related field
