What are the responsibilities and job description for the Area Manager - Oklahoma/Arkansas position at NOVO DISTRIBUTION LLC?
We are seeking a dedicated Area Manager to be responsible for supervising and evaluating the performance of Territory Service Representatives, Regional Service Representatives, and Account Stockers to maximize the performance of Novo’s National Account Customers. They will maintain the existing National Home Center accounts, including merchandising product within the stores, culling, and writing credits for damaged or defective product, placing orders, controlling customer inventories for maximum turns with minimum stock-outs, answering customer questions and training customer employees on Novo’s products and services. This position covers 37 stores in Oklahoma and Arkansas.

- $62,000 - $64,000/year
- Car Allowance - $480/mo.

Essential Responsibilities
- Hires, trains, and manages the Territory Service Representatives, Regional Service Representatives and Account Stockers necessary to service assigned region. Ensuring their ability to meet sales and service standards and providing them with the required product knowledge and understanding of Novo and its operations.
- Conduct performance appraisals for all assigned Territory Service Representative, Regional Service Representatives and Account Stockers.
- Manages and travels to all assigned region on a regular/pre-determined schedule. Meeting with Territory Service Representative, Regional Service Representative and Account Stockers to monitor and maintain Novo service standards.
- Conducts store audits, taking the necessary action to correct deficiencies and notify customers of changes needed in their inventory systems.
- Coordinate with other Novo departments, such as Sales and Customer Service, with the appropriate documentation to rectify the deficiencies.
- May participate in and/or coordinate the pursuit and development of new customers, sales growth strategies, maintenance of existing business, introduce and promote new products to existing and potential customers.
- Uses all resources and tools to identify leading indicators of stores, markets or Areas that are not performing as to set standards, identifying trends in performance and results to formulate where action is needed.
- Oversees required participation by Territory Service Representative, Regional Service Representative and Account stockers in special events held by customers (i.e., Grand Openings, Contractor Nights, Product Knowledge Training, etc.) as well as store set/reset activity, as necessary.
- Builds and fosters strong relationships with home center store management and employees, providing training and technical direction to store personnel on Novo products and services.
- Recommends and implements modification of policies, practices and procedures which will enhance Novo’s employee and customer relationships as well as sales objectives and profitability based on market conditions in the field.
- Completes administrative responsibilities, paperwork and reports properly and in a timely manner, ensuring the same is done by all assigned Territory Service Representatives, Regional Service Representatives and Account Stockers.
- Approves all expenses, monitoring for any unusual activity
Basic Qualifications (Required)
- High school diploma
- Possess and maintain a current unrestricted (other than for vision correction) driver’s license and acceptable driving record along with adequate on-going auto insurance on personal vehicle.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to successfully communicate verbally and in written form with employees and various levels of management.
- Strong relationship building skills and foster the relationship between Novo and the customer.
- Solid organization and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently, make accurate decisions, and analyze risk, while adhering to deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Training in construction and/or inventory analysis helpful.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field
- Prior field service work experience or big box retail experience
- Willingness to go above and beyond Superior customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Experience and/or knowledge of building products or materials industry.
Travel Requirements
- Travel is primarily to stores within a geographic location, although some reginal and overnight travel may be expected.
- Safely drive a Company vehicle while upholding all pertinent laws and ensure the upkeep of the vehicle.
