HR Manager – Tier 1 Automotive Manufacturing

Position Title: Human Resources Manager

Department: Human Resources

Reports To: Plant Director / Director of Human Resources

Location: Walworth, WI

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading all HR functions within a fast-paced Tier 1 automotive manufacturing environment. This position serves as a strategic business partner and hands-on leader supporting plant operations, workforce planning, employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, labor compliance, compensation administration, and organizational development. The HR Manager drives initiatives that support operational excellence, employee engagement, workforce retention, and a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate has strong manufacturing HR experience, preferably within the automotive industry, and thrives in a high-volume, metrics-driven environment.


Essential Responsibilities

HR Leadership & Strategy

  • Partner with plant leadership to align HR strategies with business and operational objectives.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers on employee relations, performance management, and talent development.
  • Lead workforce planning initiatives to ensure staffing levels meet production demands.
  • Develop and implement HR programs that enhance employee engagement and retention.
  • Support organizational changes, restructuring initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.

Employee Relations

  • Foster a positive employee relations environment and open communication throughout the facility.
  • Investigate employee complaints, concerns, and workplace issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Administer corrective action processes and ensure consistency in policy application.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Promote a culture of respect, accountability, and inclusion.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Development

  • Oversee recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding activities for hourly and salaried employees.
  • Develop recruiting strategies to attract skilled manufacturing talent.
  • Manage succession planning and talent pipeline initiatives.
  • Coordinate training and development programs to support employee growth and leadership development.
  • Partner with local schools, technical colleges, and community organizations to support workforce development initiatives.

Compliance & Policy Administration

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain compliance with FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, OSHA, workers' compensation, and other employment-related requirements.
  • Update and administer employee handbook policies and HR procedures.
  • Manage audits and reporting requirements related to HR compliance.

Compensation, Benefits & HR Systems

  • Support benefits administration and employee communication regarding available programs.
  • Analyze compensation and workforce metrics to support business decisions.
  • Maintain HRIS data accuracy and generate workforce reports and analytics.

Safety & Manufacturing Support

  • Work closely with Environmental Health & Safety teams to promote a safe work environment.
  • Support safety initiatives, incident investigations, and return-to-work programs.
  • Participate in plant leadership meetings and contribute to operational performance goals.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or related field.
  • 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3 years of HR leadership or management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Experience with employee relations, investigations, conflict resolution, and performance management.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Automotive or Tier 1 manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
