NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking a Construction Materials Lab Technician to support transportation and infrastructure projects in our Norcross, GA laboratory. This position is heavily focused on GDOT aggregate testing and requires hands-on experience evaluating sand, gravel, and stone materials for roadway and civil construction applications.
Preferred candidates will hold ACI Aggregate Testing Level I or II certifications and have practical experience performing aggregate tests related to gradation, strength, and durability in accordance with GDOT and AASHTO standards.

Preferred candidates will hold ACI Aggregate Testing Level I or II certifications and have practical experience performing aggregate tests related to gradation, strength, and durability in accordance with GDOT and AASHTO standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory testing on concrete, asphalt, and aggregates (sand, gravel, stone) used in transportation and roadway construction projects in accordance with GDOT and AASHTO procedures.
- Conduct material characterization tests including: Sieve analysis / gradation, specific gravity and absorption, soundness and degradation testing, and other aggregate durability and quality evaluations
- Accurately record, review, and report test results to ensure compliance with GDOT specifications.
- Prepare, process, and handle aggregate samples following established laboratory protocols.
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment used for aggregate and materials testing.
- Support quality control and quality assurance efforts for GDOT transportation projects.
- Follow all laboratory safety procedures, quality standards, and documentation requirements.
- ACI Aggregate Testing Level I or Level II certification
- Hands-on laboratory experience testing concrete, asphalt / pavements, and/or aggregates for transportation projects.
- Working knowledge of GDOT and AASHTO testing standards for aggregates.
- Experience evaluating aggregate gradation, strength, and durability characteristics.
- ACI / GDOT Concrete Lab Technician, ACI Strength Testing, or GDOT Aggregate Testing certifications
- GDOT Roadway Testing Technician (RTT) certification
- Previous experience in a GDOT-approved laboratory.
- Familiarity with aggregate testing for roadway, highway, or infrastructure construction.
- Experience with additional materials testing such as asphalt or soils is a plus, but not required.
