Overview
Notre Dame High School Gr. 7-12 is a college preparatory school in Elmira, NY, and is currently seeking to fulfill the position of a part-time Guidance Counselor. The position is 25 hours a week and is a 12-month position, working with students in grades 8-10.
Duties
The responsibilities include:
- Advising students on academic, behavioral, and social matters.
- Creating long-term personal relationships with students and their parents.
- Working closely with teachers to create the best learning opportunities for our students.
- Oversee and fulfill a guidance program designed to allow students to voice concerns without fear of punishment or judgment.
- Analyze student performance in class and via assessments to identify sources of problems.
- Using student performance data to identify solutions that support every student in achieving their highest success rate.
- Get to know students and their unique needs to offer specialized solutions.
- Help students develop a plan for their academic career that corresponds with their skills and interests.
- Facilitate communication between parents, teachers, administrators, and students about academic and behavioral issues.
- Assist with school programs and events.
NYS School Counselor Certification and a Bachelor’s degree in school counseling is preferred. A bachelor’s degree in a related field such as social work, psychology, or education would be considered.

Salary Range: $35,000-40,000
Position is available immediately.
