PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

The Communications Specialist supports Notre Dame Federal Credit Union and its family of Credit Union Service Organizations (CUSOs) by creating, coordinating, and executing digital communications that engage members and reinforce our mission. This role manages content across multiple digital channels, email, web, and social media, while maintaining strong collaboration with internal departments, branches, and external vendors. The ideal candidate is a well-organized communicator with strong writing skills, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for creating meaningful member experiences.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position must effectively carry out the essential duties of this position in a manner that consistently demonstrates the core values of Notre Dame Federal Credit Union brands in a positive manner. This position requires thought and innovation, and one to think critically and creatively. This position also requires a high aptitude for learning. The duties identified below are the essential functions of the position. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Communications

  • Manage the day-to-day coordination of member communications, including onboarding messages, drip campaigns, and general marketing outreach.
  • Develop and maintain email and SMS communication schedules across multiple brands to ensure timely, relevant, and compliant delivery.
  • Collaborate with external vendors to coordinate and deliver marketing communications.
  • Request and manage targeted member lists for segmented campaigns, maintaining clear records of communications and approvals.
  • Work within HubSpot (or similar CRM platform) to build, schedule, and monitor automated email workflows.
  • Track campaign performance and collaborate with marketing leadership to optimize future communications.
  • Maintain consistent branding, tone, and formatting across all outbound messages.
  • Write and distribute press releases as needed.

 

Content Support

  • Assist in drafting, editing, and formatting content for blogs, landing pages, emails, and social posts.
  • Produce or coordinate visual content such as photography, short-form video, or basic graphic design to enhance marketing campaigns and member engagement.
  • Collect stories, photos, and event updates from branches and distribute them to appropriate channels.
  • Work with internal experts and freelance writers to prepare content for review and posting.
  • Partner with the creative team to prepare final materials for digital publication.
  • Edit and resize images as necessary.

 

Digital & Social Media Coordination

  • Help maintain detailed communication and social media schedules for the credit union and its CUSOs.
  • Schedule approved content across channels and monitor for engagement or required follow-up.
  • Update website content as directed and ensure campaign materials are posted accurately and on time.
  • Stay up to date and leverage social trends to promote the credit unions many brands.
  • Maintain and test website user paths, forms, and landing pages to ensure a positive and accessible member experience.

 

Administrative & Process Support

  • Coordinate the launch of campaign materials across digital and in-branch channels, ensuring timely deployment, brand alignment, and accurate message delivery.
  • Submit and track marketing requests, list pulls, and approvals through established workflows.
  • Assist in maintaining the HubSpot database and generating basic campaign reports.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to track delivery of turnkey content or materials.
  • Gather supplies and attend community events as needed.
  • Great written and verbal communication skills a must.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as necessary for the continued growth and advancement of the Marketing team and the Credit Union.

 To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the ability to solve problems and handle complex details. He/she must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and must be a team player. He/she must be adept at quickly learning and understanding technology; and have a deep understanding of how technology can be applied to solve business challenges. The position requires the individual to possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to present information effectively. Error-free work is expected. The chosen candidate must pay close attention to detail and must be able to meet all production and distribution schedules and deadlines, and must be creative, self-motivated, organized, dependable and professional, with a demonstrated record as a self-starter. They must use diplomacy, tact, and professionalism in actions and appearance.
