Exciting Opportunity: Head Coach, Middle School Girls Basketball at Notre Dame Academy! Position: Head Coach, Middle School Basketball, Seasonal Department: Athletics Salary Range: $2,000-$2,300 FLSA: Exempt Join us at Notre Dame Academy - Hingham, an all-female college preparatory high school dedicated to empowering young women in grades 6-12. As a vibrant Catholic learning community sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, we focus on personal faith formation, academic excellence, and social responsibility. We are seeking a positive and enthusiastic Middle School Girls Basketball Head Coach to lead our Middle School basketball program. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of basketball fundamentals and a passion for introducing young student-athletes to the game in a supportive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment. The Middle School program is designed to help student-athletes build fundamental basketball skills, learn how to be part of a team, develop confidence, and foster a love for the sport. The coach should prioritize individual growth, participation, teamwork, sportsmanship, and creating a positive experience for all student-athletes. Key Responsibilities: •Plan and lead organized, engaging, and age-appropriate practices for Middle School student-athletes. •Teach basketball fundamentals, including ball handling, passing, shooting, rebounding, defensive positioning, spacing, and basic game concepts. •Introduce student-athletes to team offensive and defensive concepts in an age-appropriate manner. •Create opportunities for student-athletes of varying experience and skill levels to learn, improve, and contribute to the team. •Emphasize skill development, confidence, effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship. •Prepare student-athletes for games while maintaining a development-first approach. •Provide positive and constructive feedback that encourages continued growth and enjoyment of the sport. •Foster an inclusive team culture where student-athletes feel supported, challenged, and connected to the NDA Basketball program. •Communicate clearly and professionally with student-athletes, families, the Varsity coaching staff, and the Athletic Department regarding schedules, expectations, and program information. •Serve as a positive role model and reinforce the values and expectations of Notre Dame Academy Athletics. •Ensure adherence to school, Athletic Department, and safety expectations during all practices and games. Schedule and Season Commitment: oSeason Dates: November 30 through mid-February oPractices: Practice days and times vary based on gym availability. Teams typically practice 1–2 times per week after school. oGames: Scheduled primarily on weekdays throughout the season. oWeekends & Winter Break: There are no weekend commitments and no team commitments over Winter Break. Qualifications: •Previous basketball coaching or playing experience preferred. •Experience working with Middle School-aged student-athletes is preferred. •Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and basic rules and strategies. •Ability to teach athletes with a wide range of experience and skill levels. •Ability to create a positive, energetic, and developmentally appropriate environment. •Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. •Patience, enthusiasm, and an ability to connect with young student-athletes. •Ability to work collaboratively within the NDA Basketball program and Athletic Department. •Commitment to the mission and values of Notre Dame Academy *At Notre Dame Academy, we celebrate diversity and strive to create a working and learning environment that reflects our community.
