Exciting Opportunity: Head Coach, Freshman Girls Basketball at Notre Dame Academy! Position: Head Coach, Freshman Girl’s Basketball, Seasonal Department: Athletics Salary Range: $2,700-$2,900 FLSA: Exempt Join us at Notre Dame Academy - Hingham, an all-female college preparatory high school dedicated to empowering young women in grades 6-12. As a vibrant Catholic learning community sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, we focus on personal faith formation, academic excellence, and social responsibility. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Freshman Girls Basketball Head Coach to lead our Freshman basketball team. The ideal candidate will have experience in basketball and a strong commitment to helping student-athletes develop their skills, confidence, and understanding of the game. The Freshman program serves as an important developmental step within the NDA Basketball program, preparing student-athletes for future opportunities at the JV and Varsity levels. This role involves planning and leading practices, preparing the team for games, and fostering a positive environment that emphasizes teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and growth. Key Responsibilities: •Develop and implement effective practice plans appropriate for Freshman-level student-athletes. •Teach and reinforce basketball fundamentals, including ball handling, passing, shooting, rebounding, defensive principles, offensive concepts, and overall game awareness. •Help student-athletes develop the skills, habits, and understanding necessary to progress within the NDA Basketball program. •Conduct organized and purposeful practices that promote individual skill development, team concepts, conditioning, and game readiness. •Prepare the team for games and provide appropriate instruction and feedback during competition. •Monitor individual and team progress while providing constructive feedback, encouragement, and support. •Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes respect, accountability, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. •Communicate clearly and professionally with student-athletes, families, the Varsity coaching staff, and the Athletic Department regarding schedules, expectations, and program information. •Support the philosophy and overall direction of the NDA Basketball program. •Ensure adherence to school, Athletic Department, and safety expectations during all practices and games. Schedule and Season Commitment: oSeason Dates: November 30 through mid-February oPractices: Typically 4–5 times per week after school. oGames: Scheduled primarily on weekdays throughout the season. oWeekends & Winter Break: There are no weekend commitments and no team commitments over Winter Break Qualifications: •Previous basketball coaching experience at the high school or youth level preferred. •Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, techniques, and strategies. •Ability to teach and develop student-athletes with varying levels of basketball experience. •Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes while fostering a positive team environment. •Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. •Fundamental understanding of MIAA policies. •Ability to work collaboratively within the NDA Basketball program and Athletic Department. •Commitment to the mission and values of Notre Dame Academy *At Notre Dame Academy, we celebrate diversity and strive to create a working and learning environment that reflects our community.
