Firehouse Brewing Company – Assistant Brewer Job Description

Firehouse Brewing Company in Rapid City, SD is seeking an Assistant Brewer. This position is responsible for assisting in all aspects of brewing, cellaring and packaging operations. The Assistant Brewer will possess knowledge of the brewing process and brewery operations, as well as continue to grow and learn as the job demands. The Assistant Brewer is expected to adhere to the production schedule, to ensure the smooth production of high quality, innovative, and consistent beers.

Key Responsibilities

• Brewery Operations
• Brewing on a 15bbl, 2-vessel brewhouse
• Yeast handling and fermentation management
• Cellaring procedures, including tank CIP and beer filtration
• Packaging in kegs and cans (Wild Goose canning line)
• Quality assurance/quality control practices and procedures
• Maintaining and cleaning tap lines
• Raw material handling
• Brewery maintenance, troubleshooting, upkeep and improvement
• Administrative
• Maintaining accurate brewing, cellaring, packaging and inventory logs
• Participate in and attend sales and brewery events
• Work with staff in a safe and respectful manner
• Assist in inventory management
• Document inventory using Beer 30 software
  
  

Requirements

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or higher
• 0-3 years of brewery experience
• High level of interest or eagerness to learn
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Able to move/lift 55 lbs repeatedly
• Able to handle full kegs safely
• Comfortable standing and working on feet for long periods in hot/wet/noisy environment
• Able to crouch, work in tight spaces and climb a ladder
  
  

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in best cleaning and sanitation practices
• Mechanical skills
• Forklift driving
• Basic computer skills – email, spreadsheets, record keeping
  
  

Firehouse Brewing Company is South Dakota’s oldest continuously operating brewery, in business at its original location in downtown Rapid City since 1991. Firehouse Brewing Company is also a full-service restaurant with the adjacent Firehouse Wine Cellars wine bar, Firehouse Pizzeria, mercantile shop, and Firehouse Skybox sports bar on the company premises.

$15 - $25 per hour based on experience
