What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retirement Plan Manager position at Norwood Economics?
Role Overview:
The Retirement Plan Manager’s primary function is to provide concierge-level support to Norwood Economics’ 401(k) and Cash Balance clients. This entails providing guidance to the Plan Sponsors in meeting their plan administration duties, reminding clients of pending deadlines, assisting with annual education, orchestrating support with their TPAs & Recordkeepers, providing secondary support (after the Recordkeeper) to plan participants, and helping on-board new clients. This role will also provide limited support to sales and compliance functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- New Client Onboarding: Work with TPA & Recordkeeper to facilitate implementation or conversion of new plans. Support sales in confirming plan design.
- Client Education: Customize and deliver client enrollment meetings, annual education, and topical webinars.
- Plan Sponsor Services: Monitor client deadlines. Remind, support and educate plan sponsors toward meeting their requirements. Coordinate with TPAs & Recordkeepers to answer administration questions. Facilitate Investment Committee Meetings.
- Participant Services: Guide participants to correct resources (Recordkeeper, TPA, Plan Sponsor). Provide occasional secondary support to client participants. Customize How-to guides for common questions.
- Additional Administrative Services: Provide additional plan sponsor administrative support for clients electing enhanced services.
- Sales Support: As time allows, assist sales with benchmarks and proposal generation.
- Compliance: Work with the team to support annual ERISA and state compliance requirements.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 2–5 years of experience in retirement plan support services.
- Series 65 license is strongly preferable. Otherwise, must obtain within 6 months.
- Attentive client service orientation.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
