MEP Maintenance & Event Technician - Norwich University

Fulfills the mission of Norwich University providing maintenance of plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems to campus buildings and facilities. Provides sound system support with flexible schedule dependent on university events. The position requires some after-hour emergency work with a rotating on call schedule.

Essential Functions

• Performs repair, installation, maintenance to plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Plans, coordinates, and executes sound and AV system setup and support for university events, ensuring high-quality technical performance.
• Manages logistical operations for all sound and AV equipment, including inventory oversight, equipment condition assessment, and strategic planning for event needs.
• Maintains detailed documentation of time, materials, and project status to support operational planning and compliance requirements.
• Ensures adherence to all Norwich University policies, safety standards, and departmental procedures while performing duties.
• Performs associated Facilities Operations maintenance work as requested.

• Communicate effectively with employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear manner.
• Serves on University committees, councils, workgroups, or other designated bodies as assigned.
• Achieves, maintains proficiency in, and utilizes computers, telephones, and other job-related equipment, including related systems and software.
• Speaks, reads, and writes in English.
• Communicates by telephone, email, letter, in person, or other means or device.
• Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

• High school diploma or equivalent work experience required.
• 1 year of experience in sound/AV, mechanical, plumbing, electrical systems maintenance.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related equipment; lift 75 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus.
• Works weekend schedule with 2 days off as per event coverage schedule.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and participation in the on-call rotation based on university operational needs.
