Marine Forklift Operator

Job Summary

Norview Marina is seeking a skilled Marine Forklift Operator to join our marina yard and boat handling team. The ideal candidate will operate boat forklifts safely and efficiently to move vessels on land, place boats in dry storage or boatel, assist with haul-outs, and support marina operations.

This position requires precision, mechanical aptitude, and strong awareness of safety procedures in a marine environment. Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors, operating heavy equipment around boats and water, and performing physically demanding tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a boat forklift to lift, transport, and place boats in wet slips, dry storage, or boatel safely
• Assist with boat haul-outs, launches, and retrievals from the water
• Conduct routine inspections of forklifts and other equipment to ensure safe operation; report maintenance needs promptly
• Safely secure boats in storage racks or on cradles, considering size, weight, and balance
• Perform minor maintenance and troubleshooting on forklifts or lifting equipment when needed
• Maintain accurate logs of boat movements, haul-outs, and storage locations
• Monitor marina operations for safety hazards and follow OSHA and company safety protocols
• Provide courteous assistance to boat owners and marina staff during launches, retrievals, and storage operations
• Assist with general yard upkeep, including cleaning, organizing, and preparing slips for new arrivals

Qualifications

• Required: Experience operating boat forklifts, travel lifts, or similar heavy marine equipment
• Knowledge of marine vessel handling, rigging, and boat safety procedures
• Mechanical aptitude for equipment troubleshooting and minor maintenance
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, standing, and walking on docks and yards
• Strong attention to safety, detail, and operational precision
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
• Prior experience in a marina or boatyard is highly preferred

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
