Position Summary:
Maintenance Technician II will support the Facilities Manager with maintaining all museum facilities and on-property housing, including preventative maintenance of HVAC equipment, along with assisting vendors, contractors, and janitorial services.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Facilities
- Perform repairs and routine maintenance for residential buildings, IE: appliance functions, plumbing and electrical issues, wall repair and paint, minor carpentry.
- Perform repairs related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, leaks and drainage issues, in mechanical rooms, common areas, offices and classrooms in Museum.
- Support Facilities Manager with preventative building maintenance, such as HVAC maintenance, life safety inspections, lighting, and plumbing fixtures.
- Assist with the overall maintenance of exterior spaces of the residential properties, along with parking lots.
- Conduct routine inspections of the facility for quality control, identify potential problems, document and correct them.
- Assist with routine tasks such as pressure washing exterior areas, exterior debris removal, and other labor-oriented tasks as assigned when needed.
- Maintain department equipment and tools, documenting and notifying the Facilities Manager of deficiencies.
- Report any irregular activity or unsafe working practices in the facility to the Facilities Manager.
- Assist contractors performing maintenance work in the facility and provide access as needed.
Operational Logistics
- Assist with the overall security and safety of the property.
- Provide attention to detail to ensure all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or future problems are not overlooked, documented, and communicated.
- Communicate with all staff and visitors in a clear, efficient, and effective manner utilizing the appropriate tools, including computers, phones, tablets and radios.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of diverse skilled trades experience preferred (i.e., carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
- Commercial HVAC experience a plus
- Experience in a commercial building setting, sensitive working environments, and professionally working in a public setting preferred
- Demonstratable knowledge of hand tools, power tools, electrical and plumbing specific tools
- Proficiency with computer software required, experience with maintenance software a plus
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively within a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Maintain professionalism in a high-paced environment, able to prioritize and effectively handle multiple tasks as they arise.
- Comprehensive understanding of maintenance procedures and techniques.
- Experience with PPE and safe work practices.
- Capable of lifting loads over 50 pounds.
- Safely set up and climb ladders up to 24’
- Able to work in confined spaces and hard to reach areas requiring dexterity.
- Must be able to work some nights, weekends, or holidays
Hours and Compensation:
- Monday-Friday, day shift (weekends and holidays as needed)
- Full-Time, Non-Exempt
- Compensation: Commensurate with experience
Location Requirements:
At the time of employment, employees are expected to be located within reasonable commuting distance of the museum. Commuting Distance means they are located in South Florida, and able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
