Summary
We are seeking a Dental Assistant/Patient Coordinator to join our team at Northwoods Dentistry. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing exceptional patient care and assisting our dental professionals in delivering high-quality treatments. This position is essential to ensuring a smooth and efficient operation within our practice. This position would be split between assisting and working at the front desk.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during procedures by preparing instruments and materials.
- Ensure the treatment area is clean and organized, adhering to infection control protocols.
- Manage patient records, including maintaining accurate medical histories and treatment notes.
- Take and develop dental radiographs as needed.
- Educate patients on post-treatment care.
- Monitor patient comfort during procedures, providing support as necessary.
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure efficient workflow and patient satisfaction.
- Scheduling appointments and appointment management.
- Answering phone calls and responding to emails with clear communication.
- Verifying dental insurance, explaining insurance benefits, and assisting patients with financial arrangements, payment plans, and processing payments.
- Presenting treatment plans to patients, explaining procedures, and helping them understand the proposed timeline and costs.
Requirements
- Certification or degree in dental assisting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and infection control practices.
- Proficiency in taking medical records and managing patient information.
- Familiarity with dental software systems is a plus.
- Basic understanding of anatomy related to dentistry is essential.
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanor are required.
- Multitasking abilities and the ability to prioritize task is a must.
