Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental instruments, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly following infection control protocols.
- Take digital dental radiographs (X-ray) using digital imaging technology. Take impression intraorally using 3shape Trios 5 3D scanners. Use other medical imaging tools and AI to acquire and assist with interpreting radiographs.
- Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems. Our office uses Open Dental. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Support patients by explaining procedures, taking vital signs, and ensuring their comfort throughout visits.
- Perform chairside assisting with aseptic technique, dental terminology, and anatomy knowledge to ensure efficient procedures.
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, assisting the dental receptionist to answer and return patient calls and managing medical documentation or coding when necessary.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Open dental, Sidexis, Pearl AI for managing medical records and documentation.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and accurately; certification in radiography preferred.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dentistry.
- Experience assisting with pediatric dentistry cases and understanding of pediatric-specific protocols.
- Knowledge of dental specialties including prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry procedures.
