What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant General Manager position at Northwood Hospitality?
The Assistant General Manager works in conjunction with the General Manager to establish and maintain operational standards and ensure efficiency and profitability for the Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte Ballantyne. Manages overall operation through maintaining cost and quality standards, maximizing profits, training and developing associates and exceeding guest expectations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manages all sources of revenue to include rooms, food and beverage and others. Ensures all departments are profitable and maintain strong working relationships. Responsible for utilizing budget and forecast to track expenses. (Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable)
- Oversees Bistro operations to include food preparation methods, portion control and garnishing; ensure accurate presentation of all foods per the use records. Participates in monthly inventory verification and maintains adequate supplies. Ensures all Health Department guidelines are in place and practiced.
- Responsible for ensuring all COVID standards/procedures are communicated and practiced per CDC/Northwood/Marriott guidelines in accordance with national/state/local restrictions.
- Assist with creating the hotel’s annual budget and monitors the performance of the hotel throughout the year.
- Produces monthly financial reports and knows at all times where the hotel stands against budget.
- Motivates and engages associates in team building activities. Responsible for employee development, retention and conducting regular employee meetings.
- Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction. Desires to provide 4-Star Service to all people at all times. Evaluates the Guest Satisfaction Survey on a regular basis to better understand the categories that are performing under par and need new ideas implemented to improve GSS scores.
- Follows company policies and procedures and is able to effectively communicate them to subordinates.
- Holds associates accountable for their actions and is willing and able to coach/counsel associates depending on the nature of the action.
- Assist the sales department and General Manager to create local and national marketing plans and pricing strategies and knows market segments.
- Fulfills Manager On Duty Shifts and Responsibilities
- Ensures hotel is in compliance with all federal, state and local laws, including OSHA, EEOC, Wage Hour and Health laws
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; associates degree preferred
- Previous Supervisory experience
- 2 - 3 years of hotel Assistant General Manager experience and/or Front Desk Supervisor
- Experience using point of sale systems and/or Fosse preferred
