What are the responsibilities and job description for the Golf Course Maintenance Equipment Mechanic position at Northwood Club?
Northwood Club was established in 1946. We are a premier country club located in Dallas, Texas, best known for hosting the 1952 U.S. Open. The club was recently awarded the Distinguished Clubs of the World Emerald Designation for outstanding member service. We are currently looking for someone who is detail oriented, organized, positive attitude and has communication skills to oversee the repair and maitnenace of course equipment.
The general purpose will be to provide daily maintenance and landscape services for all aspects of the grounds and other areas as required. Main job function will be repair and maintenance of all equipment such as walking and riding greens mowers, tee mowers, fairway mowers, rough mowers, rollers, carts, push mowers and a variety of powered and non-powered hand tools for general landscaping.
Essential Duties:
- Ensure all equipment is set up and prepared to accomplish daily tasks
- Schedule repairs with service companies for items that cannot be fixed in house. May require dropping off and picking up equipment.
- Keep detailed records and follow through with preventative maintenance programs
- Troubleshoot and repair all types of equipment in a timely manner
- Responsible for the safe operation of any equipment used.
- Check equipment before use to insure operational. Clean and properly store any piece of equipment after use.
- Work closely with other golf course maintenance employee's performing job assignments.
- Operate trimmers, fly mowers, walking greens mowers, tractors and utility trucksters.
- Ensure safe working environment at the maintenance facility, golf course property and with equipment.
- Together with Golf Course Superintendent continually create and produce a maintenance compound that is clean, organized and efficient.
- Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent implementing, and completing all duties, assignments and projects.
Education/Experience: High school education; or up to five years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education, certifications and experience.
Language Skills: May be required: to read a limited number or two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers; to print and speak simple sentences.
Mathematical Skills: May be required: to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
Reasoning Ability: May be required: to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one and two step instructions; to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Physical Demands: Frequently stands and walks; uses hands to finger, feel or handle; reach with hands and arms. Occasionally stoops, kneels, crawls, crouches, sits, talks or hears. Regularly lifts or carries up to 50 pounds.
Vision Requirements: Regularly uses close, distance, color, and peripheral vision as well as depth perception. Ability to adjust focus.
Environment/Noise: Works in outdoor conditions and with loud mechanical machinery. Will be required to work in outdoor weather conditions, heat and extreme cold. Noise level is moderate.
Certificates/Licenses: Must be at least age 18. Must have valid driver license.
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
- Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the employee may be required to communicate with English speaking members or co-workers, the manuals for equipment the employee may use are in English).
- Must have knowledge of small and large Turf equipment as well as reel grinding machines. Excellent mechanical and problem solving skills is a must.
- Previous Assistant or Head Mechanic experience preferred with familiarity of golf course machinery.
