FINANCIAL PLANNING ASSOCIATE
Northwestern Mutual | Grand Rapids, MI | Full Time – In Office
The full-time Financial Planning Associate works alongside Financial Representatives to deliver financial security to their clients through a comprehensive planning process that integrates risk and investment products. Associates assist Financial Representatives to increase productivity by providing curated planning and integrated operations support.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Maintain compliant electronic client files, complaint files and input factfinder data & case notes into Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
- Manage underwriting process from start to finish (submission of application to policy in force).
- Scheduling medical exams and monitoring of the Daily Status Report (DSR) to take action on cases in the Underwriting process.
- Build product, planning, and sales proficiency through training and mentorship.
- Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with supported Financial Representatives.
- Generate client prospecting lists and cross-sell reports.
- Collaborate with Home Office Financial Planning Services.
- Deliver a high-quality experience through responsiveness, professionalism, and follow-through.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Active licensing or ability to obtain LAH, SIE, Series 7, and Series 63
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) or equivalent of professional experience
- 1-3 years of experience in financial services, sales, or client-facing roles
- Strong interpersonal, organization, and communication skills
- Proactive approach by anticipating business need and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Detail-oriented, team player, and coachable
- Strong technological abilities
- Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Own a high demand workload
