Marketing and Communication Specialist

Northwestern Counseling & Support Services is expanding its HR, Marketing & Communication Team and we’re looking for two creative and collaborative professionals who can help bring the NCSS story to life. This role plays an important part in how we communicate who we are, what we do, and the impact we have across the communities we serve.

The Marketing & Communication Specialist will support agency-wide communication and branding efforts through engaging content, digital communications, marketing materials, media relations, events, and community outreach. From developing social media and website content to creating promotional materials and coordinating media opportunities, this position helps ensure NCSS has a consistent, recognizable, and engaging presence across a variety of audiences and platforms.

This is also a highly community-facing role. You’ll help plan and promote agency events, build relationships with community partners and media, represent NCSS at community gatherings, and support initiatives that increase awareness of our programs and services. You’ll have the opportunity to work across the agency, partnering with leadership teams to identify stories, accomplishments, and opportunities that showcase the work happening at NCSS.

The ideal candidate is a strong writer and communicator who enjoys both the creative and strategic sides of marketing and communications. You’ll bring ideas to the table, turn those ideas into engaging content, and use data and audience engagement to help inform what comes next. You’ll also collaborate with the Director and agency leadership on multimedia projects, public relations, campaigns, and communications initiatives that advance NCSS’s mission and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate engaging marketing and communications content across digital, print, social media, website, video, media, and other platforms.
• Create and coordinate branded materials, campaigns, advertisements, publications, event materials, and other communications that consistently reflect the NCSS brand.
• Co-lead management of the NCSS website and social media platforms, supporting a strong and consistent online presence.
• Plan, promote, and support agency events and community engagement activities, serving as a visible representative of NCSS.
• Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, community partners, contributors, and other external contacts to support outreach and public awareness.
• Prepare and distribute press releases, announcements, photos, videos, stories, and other materials that highlight NCSS programs, services, accomplishments, and community impact.
• Coordinate multimedia projects and public-facing opportunities, including television segments, on-air promotions, and presentations.
• Collect and present communications and engagement data to help evaluate outreach efforts and inform agency decision-making.
• Support agency recruitment, fundraising, program awareness, and community outreach through strategic marketing and communications.

Hiring rate is based on experience, education, and internal equity. Final compensation will be determined in accordance with NCSS policy and applicable laws.

Associate’s Degree; or equivalent combination of related education, training and experience such as relevant certificate from college or technical school.
