The X-Ray Department Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of X-Ray services and staff across all locations. This role coordinates daily operations, maintains department schedules, and ensures appropriate staffing coverage to support patient care and workflow efficiency. The Supervisor works in collaboration with the Chief Operations Officer (COO) to address staffing needs, operational challenges, and departmental performance. This position provides direct supervision, training, and support to X-Ray staff, ensuring compliance with clinical standards, safety regulations, and organizational expectations. The X-Ray Department Supervisor is a working supervisor who also performs Radiologic exams and completes administrative assignments as directed by the COO.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- It is the expectation of all NWOS management to demonstrate, uphold and educate staff on all 19 NWOS Fundamentals.
- Performs Radiologic exams as outlined in the Radiology Technologist job description.
- Ensures compliance with patient safety regulations, clinical guidelines, and organizational standards specific to X-Ray operations.
- Supervises, trains, and coaches X-Ray staff to ensure proper procedures, efficiency, teamwork, and high-quality patient care. Documents and escalate performance concerns as appropriate.
- Participates in the interview and hiring process for X-Ray staff and supports onboarding and training of new team members.
- Creates and maintains monthly X-Ray staff schedules, manages time-off requests, and ensures adequate coverage across all locations.
- Maintain monthly Dosimeter badge process for the surgery center.
- Provides directions for the daily responsibilities of X-Ray staff across clinic locations.
- Conducts regular staff meetings, completes annual performance evaluations, and maintains competency checklists.
- Performs X-Ray exams as needed to support patient care and workflow demands.
- Assists providers with procedural tasks as requested.
- Ensure X-Ray equipment and exam rooms are maintained in a clean, safe, and functional condition.
- Monitors departmental performance and supports achievement of assigned metrics.
- Attend leadership meetings as requested.
- Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience & Training: To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed below. These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform this job.
Required:
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Completion of a Washington State–approved Radiologic Technician program
- Current registration with the Washington State Department of Health as an X-ray Technician under WAC 246-926-500
- Current BLS
Preferred:
- Previous orthopedic, outpatient, or clinical imaging experience
- Previous supervisory or lead experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an X-Ray technologist
SHIFT:
- Monday-Friday, Day shift. No nights, weekends, or major holidays.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, and current radiology and MRI technologist practices and techniques.
- Knowledge of applicable healthcare regulations, patient safety standards, and clinical compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of x-ray equipment operation, safety protocols, and quality control procedures.
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, medical software, and standard office technology.
- Ability to lead, supervise, and provide clear direction to X-Ray Department staff while supporting a collaborative team environment.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to prioritize departmental needs and workflow.
- Ability to train, coach, and support staff development while ensuring work is performed within appropriate scope of practice and departmental standards.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with providers, patients, families, leadership, and staff.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities, operational needs, and organizational initiatives while maintaining a positive and professional approach.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The X-Ray Department Supervisor will oversee any and all x-ray departmental staff. This position will be responsible for setting goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company's plans and vision. Organizing workflow and ensuring that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks. Monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback and coaching.
Hiring Range: $33.64 - $55.48
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work requires full range of body motion including handling and helping lift patients. Eye and hand coordination is required as well as manual and finger dexterity to manipulate equipment. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Extensive walking, standing, sitting, stooping, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 50 pounds, as well as potential exposure to: blood and body fluids, sharps, hazardous chemicals, and solutions. Requires working under stress and some urgent situations and with patients who could be sick, irritable, upset, or confused.
