Summary
The Hematology Advanced Practice Provider will function as a healthcare provider, with physician oversight, and will work in collaboration with a broad multidisciplinary health team. This position will provide comprehensive care in the outpatient setting, demonstrating a high degree of clinical expertise working with patients with acute and chronic hematology illnesses. This position will also be responsible for assessment, understanding of diagnosis, treatment, co-management, education, health promotion and care coordination for patients.
This position will offer support at both our Puyallup and Tacoma locations.
Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive care to hematology patients, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
- Provides care for inpatient and outpatient as needed.
- Participates in the call schedule as needed.
- Manages and monitors patient treatment plans, adjusting as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Stays current with the latest advancements in hematology through continuous education and professional development.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of evidence-based practice guidelines.
- Serves as a resource for healthcare team members, providing expertise in hematology.
- Works closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to discuss and coordinate patient care.
- Collaborates with support services such as social work, palliative care, and other disciplines to address the holistic needs of patients.
- Educates patients and their families on treatment plans, potential side effects, and available support services.
- Provides emotional support and guidance to patients and families throughout their treatment journey.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues, sharing knowledge and expertise to enhance the overall quality of care.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives as needed.
- Contributes to research activities and clinical trials.
- Responds to in-office infusion reactions and/or other adverse events for acute assessment and intervention as needed.
- Communicates changes in patient’s health status or urgent patient issues to the primary attending in a timely manner.
- Maintains accurate, complete, concise and timely documentation in electronic medical record system.
- Follows ethical principles regarding patient confidentiality, informed consent and unanticipated adverse outcomes.
- Considers cost effectiveness and risk/benefit analysis when making decisions about patient care.
- Complies with all company policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Education/Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in hematology and oncology preferred.
Certificates and Licenses
- Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Washington.
- Active Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and National Provider Identifier (NPI) numbers, as well as prescriptive authority.
- Certification in Oncology or Hematology is highly desirable but not required.

Pay: $130,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
