What are the responsibilities and job description for the VITA Coordinator position at NORTHWEST INDIANA COMMUNITY ACTION CORP?
FUNCTION:
Reporting to the Director of Volunteer Services, the VITA Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of the VITA program. This includes the facilitation of site activities, preparation and quality review of customer tax returns, assistance with compliance monitoring and coordination of volunteer schedules.
The VITA Coordinator is expected to be an active participant in the agency’s mission, vision, and values. He/she shall work to ensure consistent, quality services to the agency’s constituents, demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative, and flexibility in assignments and maintain positive working
relationships and communication with all agency personnel, will be inclusive, communicative and will establish him/her as a primary resource to those volunteers he/she supervises.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Develops, implements and supervises volunteer recruitment strategies, quality training and scheduling for the Asset Building Campaign
- Manages client/volunteer satisfaction survey process for VITA
- Ensures that program activities meet all IRS regulations and comply with VITA Grant guidelines
- Maintains and develops partnerships, liaisons, and collaborations with other community-based organizations, municipal agencies and businesses in support of the VITA program
- Cooperates and coordinates with CoAction Management to increase and enhance internal and external communication to meet program goals and objectives
- Collects, stores and protects client information and project data
- Other duties as assigned
MIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- VITA Program Experience preferred
- Understanding of low-income population.
- 2 years’ experience working with volunteers.
- 2 years’ experience supervising staff.
- Understanding of basic tax law.
