The full-time Librarian plays a vital role in advancing the academic mission of Northwest Florida State College (NWFSC) by providing comprehensive library services and support. This role requires a self-directed professional who thrives on continuous learning and collaborative problem-solving, while maintaining a strong commitment to excellent customer service. This position is directly accountable to the Director, Learning Resources and Library Services for the following duties and responsibilities:
- Build strong relationships with faculty and students to support their teaching and learning needs
- Collaborate with faculty and academic programs to identify emerging resource needs
- Engage in outreach activities to promote library resources, services, and programs to the campus community
- Represent the library at campus events, and prepare promotional materials to highlight the library
- Provide reference and research assistance to students, faculty, and staff through multiple modalities (in-person and virtually)
- Develop research guides, tutorials, and instructional materials that supports users' abilities to find, evaluate, and use information effectively and ethically
- Deliver library information sessions for courses across disciplines, tailoring content to students' needs and learning outcomes
- Participate in collection development by selecting, evaluating, and recommending materials
- Contribute to the maintenance of the library's website and digital presence
- Explore new technologies that improve library services and user experience
- Approach AI with curiosity, critical thinking, and ethical awareness, and maintain compliance with acceptable use guidelines
- Stay informed about AI trends in libraries and practice skills in using AI tools
- Leverage personal strengths to contribute to team goals and library initiatives
- Engage in continuous assessment and improvement of library services
- Stay current with trends in academic librarianship and apply new knowledge
- Participate in professional organizations, conferences, workshops, and continuing education
- Recommend improvements to workflows, policies, and procedures
- Contribute to a culture of teamwork and appreciation
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports NWFSC goals by serving on college committees as needed
- Completes mandatory annual compliance training
- Performs other duties and services as assigned or requested

Job Requirements:
- Master's degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited institution
- Minimum three (3) years of documented relevant work experience in an academic, research, or learning environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Exceptional customer service
- Some physical effort may be required: occasionally moving up to 25 pounds, or positioning books on shelves above shoulder level or near the ground
- Requires regular use of technology and operating a keyboard
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional library experience
- Teaching or training experience
- Experience with library systems, such as Alma library services platform and Springshare content management system
- Experience with library databases, such as EBSCO databases, Gale databases, and Infobase databases
