Description

Job Summary:

The K–6 Math Interventionist provides targeted, differentiated math support within the general education classroom. Working collaboratively with classroom teachers, the Interventionist supports student learning through push-in instruction, identifies students needing additional intervention, monitors progress, and helps determine when Tier 3 services may be appropriate. This position also provides classroom support by assisting teachers within instructional activities, supporting individual students and small groups, and helping maintain an organized, engaging, and positive learning environment.

Job Responsibilities

Math Intervention (50%)

  • Provide consistent push-in math support in K–6 classrooms, working with small groups and individual students.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate instruction and provide targeted reteaching, scaffolding, and skill reinforcement.
  • Identify foundational skill gaps and provide targeted interventions while maintaining access to grade-level instruction.
  • Use classroom performance, assessment data, student work, and teacher observations to identify students needing additional support.
  • Monitor and document student response to intervention to guide instructional decisions and measure progress.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and ESS staff to identify students whose persistent needs may require Tier 3 services and support the referral process.
  • Serve as a collaborative math resource for K–6 teachers while reinforcing the classroom teacher’s primary instructional role.
  • The Math Interventionist will support the school's tiered intervention model by helping ensure that students receive the appropriate level of support:

Tier 1: Support differentiation and access to core classroom mathematics instruction.

Tier 2: Provide targeted interventions for students demonstrating specific skill gaps or who are not responding adequately to differentiated classroom instruction.

Tier 3: Assist in identifying students with significant or persistent mathematical needs who require intensive, individualized intervention through Educational Support Services.

  • View intervention as a collaborative support rather than a replacement for classroom instruction.
  • Maintain high expectations for all learners while providing appropriate scaffolding and support.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in responding to changing student and classroom needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student academic and educational information.
  • Communicate professionally and collaboratively with teachers and administration.

Classroom Support (50%)

  • Assist teachers with classroom preparation, organization, and daily instructional activities.
  • Provide support to individual students or small groups under the direction of the classroom teacher.
  • Reinforce lessons, directions, and classroom expectations to help students remain engaged and successful.
  • Assist with preparing instructional materials, copying, organizing supplies, and classroom projects.
  • Support classroom management efforts by encouraging positive behavior and helping maintain an orderly learning environment.
  • Provide supervision during classroom activities, assemblies, field trips, or other school events as assigned.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.

Compensation for the 0.5 FTE assignment ranges from $18,050 to $37,287.50, based on education and years of experience. Additional classroom support responsibilities are compensated separately at $17.50 per hour.
  • Schedule: Full-time, exempt position with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:30–3:30, during the academic year. Additional workdays before and after the academic year are required for preparation and year-end closeout.
  • Benefits: Eligible for benefits, including medical, dental and vision. Also eligible for tuition discount.
