Position Summary
The Equipment Operator (CDL Required) plays a critical role in the successful installation of underground and aerial telecommunications infrastructure. This position is responsible for operating heavy equipment used in trenching, boring, excavation, and material transport while ensuring safe and efficient job site operations.
The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical aptitude, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work collaboratively with construction crews to meet project timelines.
Core Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment including:
- Directional drills
- Excavators
- Trenchers
- Cable plows
- Vacuum excavation equipment
- Skid steers and loaders
- Transport equipment and materials to job sites using CDL-required vehicles
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections
- Assist with underground utility installation including fiber optic cable placement
- Follow OSHA and company safety procedures at all times
- Maintain accurate documentation for equipment usage and transport logs
- Assist with general labor tasks when equipment operation is not required
- Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors regarding job progress
- Maintain a clean and organized job site
Qualifications Required
- Valid CDL (Class A or B)
- Experience operating construction or utility equipment
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Understanding of basic mechanical functions and equipment maintenance
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical job duties
- Strong commitment to job site safety
