Job Title: Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator (Entry Level)
Location: NACA Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant
Pay Range: $19.00 – $23.00 per hour (DOE)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Full-time; may include weekends, holidays, and on-call rotation
Position Summary
The NACA Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant is seeking a motivated and dependable individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. This position is responsible for assisting in the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of wastewater treatment processes to ensure compliance with all state and federal environmental regulations.
This is an entry-level role with on-the-job training provided. The selected candidate must obtain an Arkansas Class I Wastewater Operator License within one (1) year of hire.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitor plant processes including aeration systems, clarifiers, pumps, blowers, and solids handling equipment
- Collect and analyze process samples (MLSS, pH, DO, etc.)
- Ability to learn how to run a belt filter press
- Record operational data and maintain accurate logs and reports
- Assist with laboratory testing and process control adjustments
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance of equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues
- Maintain housekeeping standards throughout the facility
- Assist with sludge handling, belt press operation, and solids management as needed
- Respond to alarms and emergency situations when required
- Follow all safety procedures and use proper PPE
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to obtain an Arkansas Class I Wastewater Operator License within 12 months of hire
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical labor
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
- Previous experience in wastewater, water treatment, utilities, construction, mechanical maintenance, or related field
- Basic knowledge of pumps, motors, and process control systems
- Experience working in a regulated or industrial environment
