Job Summary: The position involves working directly with preschool-age children in a Great Start to Readiness Program (GSRP) and NAEYC Accredited program implementing the HighScope Daily Routine. The Lead Assistant is responsible for assisting the Head Teacher with planning and instruction, supervision of children and assisting with behavior guidance when needed, developing positive relationships with families and colleagues. Ongoing professional development is provided and required.

7:45 a.m. – 4:15 p.m.
Hourly Rate: Lead Assistant Salary Schedule
2025-26 starting at $16.15/hour (full time)

Educational Requirements:
1. Minimum of an associate degree (AA) in early childhood education or child development
or the equivalent; or A valid Center-Based Preschool CDA credential; There is some flexibility for candidates enrolled in a program working towards this requirement.
2. Experience working with preschool children in a professional setting is preferred.
Qualifications:
~ Must obtain 18 Professional Development hours annually (provided)
~ Must be at least 19 years of age
~ Knowledge of State of Michigan Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers preferred
~ Knowledge of NAEYC Accreditation preferred
Duties and Responsibilities:
~ Ability to supervise children and assist with operation of a child care program.
~ Work cooperatively with the classroom team.
~ Assist with classroom maintenance.
~ Follow and enforce State of Michigan Licensing Rules.
~ Develop strong understanding of HighScope, early childhood best practices and NAEYC Program Standards.
~ Ability to follow directions.
~ Greet families and assist/communicate with parents as needed.
~ Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Teacher.
~ Take on leadership responsibilities throughout the daily routine to support the curriculum (lead and plan Small Group Time daily, collect, enter COR notes, etc.)
~Participate in Home Visit, Family Conference and Family Events.
~Assist children with bathroom needs and potty training if needed.
