A national, multi-location organization is seeking an experienced commercial real estate attorney to join its in-house legal department. This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney who enjoys serving as a strategic business partner while managing a sophisticated real estate portfolio and supporting continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as primary legal counsel for a large commercial lease portfolio, providing practical legal advice and business-focused solutions.
- Review, draft, and negotiate commercial leases, lease amendments, easements, estoppel certificates, non-disturbance agreements, and other real estate-related documents.
- Manage lease renewals, critical deadlines, landlord negotiations, and portfolio-related legal issues.
- Advise internal business leaders on matters involving lease interpretation, property rights, maintenance obligations, insurance, indemnification, and risk management.
- Support acquisitions, new site development, and other strategic real estate initiatives.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and effectively manage outside counsel on complex real estate matters.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Licensed and in good standing in any U.S. jurisdiction with the ability to qualify as in-house counsel in Florida.
- 7 years of commercial real estate experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
- Demonstrated experience managing or advising on a significant commercial lease portfolio.
- Strong experience negotiating sophisticated commercial leases and related real estate agreements.
- Retail, restaurant, or other multi-site commercial real estate experience is strongly preferred.
- Excellent judgment, negotiation, drafting, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable working directly with business executives and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
