Business Development Manager – Multimodal Freight Operations (USA)
Location
Princeton, New Jersey, United States (On-site preferred with flexibility towards hybrid/ remote working, with regional and national travel as required)

Role Purpose
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving revenue growth and expanding the customer base for multimodal freight services across the USA, including ocean, air, rail, road transportation and warehousing/ storage. The role will focus on acquiring new customers, managing strategic accounts, developing tailored logistics solutions, and strengthening the company’s market presence in the US freight and logistics ecosystem.
This position requires strong commercial acumen, deep understanding of the US logistics market, and proven experience in end to end multimodal freight solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Revenue Growth
• Identify, prospect, and onboard new customers across industries such as retail, FMCG, chemicals, automotive, industrials, and e commerce.
• Develop and execute territory wise and sector focused business development strategies.
• Achieve defined revenue, margin, and volume targets for multimodal freight services.
• Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline and accurate forecasts.
2. Multimodal Logistics Solutions
• Sell integrated logistics solutions covering:
o Ocean freight (FCL / LCL)
o Air freight
o Rail and intermodal services
o Domestic trucking and drayage
• Design customized, cost effective, and time efficient supply chain solutions based on customer needs.
• Work closely with operations, pricing, and network teams to ensure solution feasibility and service excellence.
3. Client & Account Management
• Develop long term relationships with key decision makers, supply chain heads, and procurement teams.
• Lead commercial negotiations, RFQs, tenders, and contract renewals.
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention through proactive engagement.
• Act as the primary escalation point for commercial issues and service concerns.
4. Market Intelligence & Strategic Expansion
• Monitor US freight market trends, competitor activity, customer expectations, and regulatory developments.
• Identify new trade lanes, intermodal opportunities, and value added services.
• Support leadership in market entry strategies, partnerships, and network expansion initiatives.
5. Internal Coordination & Governance
• Collaborate with cross functional teams including operations, finance, customer service, and overseas offices.
• Ensure all pricing, contracts, and service offerings are aligned with internal authority matrices and governance frameworks.
• Maintain accurate CRM data, reporting, and documentation.

Qualifications & Experience
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field
• MBA preferred but not mandatory
Experience
• 7–12 years of proven experience in business development or sales within freight forwarding or logistics
• Strong exposure to multimodal freight operations in the US market
• Experience handling RFQs, tenders, and high value customer negotiations
• Established network within shipping lines, brokers, trucking partners, and intermodal operators (preferred)

Salary : $85,000 - $100,000
