NorthRock’s internship program attracts top undergraduate students seeking meaningful exposure to the Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) industry. Over the course of 12 weeks, interns gain hands-on experience, contribute to impactful projects, and engage directly with leaders and professionals across the firm.

Due to the nature of internship responsibilities, this person must be located in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, as this internship requires an in-office presence at our downtown Minneapolis office location.
About the Role
The IT Systems Intern supports NorthRock’s technology operations by assisting with troubleshooting, system maintenance, and end-user support. This role offers hands-on experience across hardware, software, and network environments while learning how IT enables a modern, client-focused business.
What You Will Do
- Provide Tier 1 support for trouble tickets related to hardware, software, account access, connectivity, printers, and A/V systems
- Image, deploy, and recover Windows/macOS devices while maintaining accurate inventory records
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding by preparing accounts, devices, and access credentials
- Support end users in Microsoft 365, collaboration tools, and common SaaS systems
- Help manage identity and access requests, MFA resets, and security group permissions
- Monitor network health (Wi-Fi, LAN, VPN) and escalate issues with clear diagnostics
- Document technical processes, write “how-to” guides, and contribute to internal knowledge bases
What You Bring
- Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field
- Junior or senior class standing preferred
- Prior internship or business experience is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Positive attitude, eager to learn, and comfortable working independently or collaboratively
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a credit and criminal background check is required
Compensation & Benefits
The hourly rate for this role is $20.00 per hour. This role is also eligible for Employee Sick & Safe Time (ESST). For more details on ESST, visit the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry's website.
