We are seeking a passionate, community-minded professional to join our team as a Community/Prevention Specialist. This is a multi-year, grant-funded position focused on delivering prevention education, promoting positive mental health, and reducing the impact of substance use and problem gambling across the community.

In this role, you will work directly with youth, adults, schools, and community partners to deliver engaging education, support prevention initiatives, and help identify and address local community needs. If you have a background in education, social work, counseling, public health, or community development—and enjoy meaningful, hands-on work—this position may be a great fit for you.

Reliable transportation is required, as the role includes regular local travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging prevention and education programs in schools and community settings for youth and adults
  • Provide information and resources related to substance use prevention, mental health, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction
  • Plan, implement, and support community-based programs and initiatives
  • Collaborate with schools, community organizations, local leaders, and stakeholders to support shared goals
  • Co-lead a community coalition in Niagara Falls focused on mental health promotion, positive choices, and substance use prevention
  • Engage community members through surveys, discussions, and outreach to identify needs and priorities
  • Assist with grant writing, funding applications, and partnership development
  • Track program outcomes and prepare reports for funders and stakeholders

Qualifications:

One of the following is required:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, Public Health, or a related field, with at least one year of experience in schools, counseling, or community-based program
  • OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least two years of experience in community program planning, prevention, or teaching

Additional Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of substance use prevention, mental health, intervention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and community partners
  • Basic computer, data tracking, and reporting skills
  • Valid New York State Driver’s License
