Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, including compounding sterile and non-sterile products, following strict aseptic techniques for IV infusions and other critical medications.
- Manage medication intake and inventory control, ensuring accurate stock levels and proper storage according to safety guidelines.
- Support patient care by accurately labeling prescriptions, verifying medication orders, and preparing medications for administration in hospital or LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy settings.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, explaining medication instructions, and ensuring a positive experience for patients and healthcare staff.
- Maintain detailed documentation of medication dispensing, inventory logs, and compliance records to meet regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate medication administration and ensure timely delivery of prescribed therapies.
- Uphold all safety protocols related to aseptic technique, infection control, and medication handling within an acute care environment.
Skills
- Proven pharmacy technician experience with a focus on hospital or acute care settings.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration procedures, and pharmacy operations.
- Experience with LTC pharmacy services or critical care environments is highly desirable.
- Skilled in IV infusion preparation and aseptic technique to ensure patient safety during sterile compounding.
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Ability to efficiently manage intake processes, inventory control, and documentation requirements.
