About Aurora Long Term Care Pharmacy
Aurora Long Term Care Pharmacy provides closed-door pharmacy services to skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and other long term care partners in Northern Michigan. Our team is focused on accurate, on-time medication delivery and on being a true clinical partner to the facilities and residents we serve.
Position Summary
We’re hiring a Pharmacy Dispensing Technician to support our dispensing operations. This role centers on filling cycle and on-demand medication orders for facility residents, coordinating with nursing staff, and maintaining the accuracy and documentation standards that long term care pharmacy demands. You’ll work alongside pharmacists, drivers, and account managers in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail matters.
What You’ll Do
- Fill unit dose, multi-dose pouches (Parata), and cycle fill orders for residents of skilled nursing and assisted living facilities
- Prepare and stage medication orders for delivery, including STAT and same-day orders
- Process new orders, refills, and discontinuations in the pharmacy management system (QS1 & DocuTrack)
- Maintain accurate controlled substance records in compliance with DEA and state board requirements
- Handle medication returns, credits, and reverse distribution per facility and regulatory requirements
- Support inventory management, including receiving, stocking, cycle counts, and expired medication removal
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready work area in line with USP <795> and <800> standards where applicable
- Follow all pharmacy policies, HIPAA requirements, and state Board of Pharmacy regulations
What We’re Looking For
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Active state pharmacy technician license/registration in Michigan
- PTCB (CPhT) certification, or willingness to obtain via employer sponsored board approved program
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a high-volume environment
- Comfortable using pharmacy software and standard computer applications
- Reliable, dependable, and able to work as part of a team
Preferred
- Prior long term care, closed-door, or institutional pharmacy experience
- Experience with QS1, DocuTrack, or other LTC-specific pharmacy systems
- Familiarity with blister/pouch packaging equipment such as Parata ATP2
