Responsibilities
- Operate the cash register efficiently, handling retail sales transactions with accuracy and speed using POS (Point of Sale) systems.
- Provide outstanding customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product selections or demos.
- Manage cash drawer handling responsibly, ensuring proper cash handling procedures are followed at all times.
- Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance sales and improve the customer experience.
- Stock shelves, organize displays, and assist with merchandising to maintain an attractive shopping environment.
- Conduct product demos when applicable, highlighting features and benefits to encourage purchase decisions.
- Maintain professional phone etiquette when responding to inquiries or assisting customers remotely.
- Support store operations by supervising team members when needed and assisting with inventory management tasks such as stocking and inventory checks.
Skills
- Proficiency in POS systems and cash register operations for seamless retail transactions.
- Previous supervising experience is a plus, demonstrating leadership in a retail setting.
- Strong product knowledge across store merchandise to assist customers effectively.
- Excellent communication skills in both bilingual (if applicable) and English to connect with diverse customers.
- Ability to perform basic math accurately for cash handling, retail math calculations, and balancing cash drawers.
- Experience in grocery or retail stores is advantageous for understanding store operations and customer needs.
- Knowledge of merchandising techniques and stock management practices to keep the store organized and inviting.
- Exceptional phone etiquette for professional remote communication with customers or vendors.
