Job Summary
The Landscape Architect will bring outdoor spaces to life by collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects from concept design through construction documentation and administration. This role involves preparing landscape and hardscape plans, specifications, cost estimates, and ensuring compliance with zoning and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will manage multiple projects, mentor team members, and contribute to high-quality design and documentation across a range of project types including parks, streetscapes, public spaces, development sites, industrial facilities, higher education campuses, and master planning initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Design & Documentation
• Develop concept designs, presentation graphics, and detailed construction documents (SD, DD, CD phases).
• Prepare landscape and hardscape plans, details, and technical specifications.
• Conduct product research and prepare cost estimates (opinions of probable construction cost).
• Ensure compliance with municipal zoning codes and landscape requirements.
• Review and coordinate drawings across disciplines (civil, electrical, architectural, etc.).
• Provide QA/QC review and redlines for project deliverables.
• Sign and seal landscape architecture plans as required.
• Project Management & Coordination
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, surveyors, and subconsultants.
• Analyze topographic data, surveys, aerial imagery, and grading plans.
• Ensure proper coordination of design elements with grading and site conditions.
• Anticipate project needs and maintain organized documentation.
• Construction Administration
• Conduct site visits and document progress.
• Review shop drawings and respond to contractor inquiries.
• Lead pre-construction meetings and construction administration (CA) meetings.
• Develop punch lists and oversee project closeout activities.
• Team Leadership & Mentorship
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
• Assist team members with design, documentation, and best practices.
• Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
• Client Interaction & Business Development
• Communicate regularly with clients and stakeholders.
• Participate in presentations, public meetings, and professional engagements.
• Assist in preparing proposals, marketing materials, and project interviews.
• Support business development efforts through written proposals.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or related field.
• Licensed Landscape Architect (required).
• 10 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Strong experience in construction documentation and administration.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
• Solid understanding of technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
