American Sign Language Interpreter

The hourly wage range for this position is $32.45–$45.81. This range reflects the base pay for this position.
Key Accountabilities
- Serve as an interpreter between Northfield Hospital Clinics personnel and deaf or hard-of-hearing patients and families to facilitate access to care.
- Interpreting may be needed at any of our surrounding Clinic sites, as well as at the Hospital in Northfield.
- This position will be contacted as interpreter needs arise for patients requiring American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation, typically with at least one day’s notice.
- Hours will vary from week to week, averaging up to 10 hours per week.
- Additional hours may be available during evenings and weekends, sometimes with short notice.
- Candidates interested in additional hours should be able to arrive within 30 minutes when contacted.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English, with the ability to interpret accurately between Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing patients and hearing individuals.
- Completion of an ASL/English Interpreter training program or equivalent education and experience.
- Current Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) National Interpreter Certification (NIC) or Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) certification required.
- Six months work experience as an ASL interpreter; healthcare interpreting experience preferred
- Eligible for Shift Differential Pay in addition to base wage
- Earned Safe and Sick Time (ESST) accrued on first paycheck
