Project Overview: We are seeking a senior Java Developer responsible for designing, developing, testing and deploying software on cloud-based applications. Contractor’s Role: You should be comfortable with back-end coding languages, development frameworks, and third-party libraries with an emphasis on JAVA, Spring Boot and Azure. Contractor will be a key member of a cross functional team following Agile development methodologies. Qualifications: 10+ years of hands‑on experience with Java (J2EE), Spring Boot Proven experience building and supporting cloud‑based Java applications on Azure Strong understanding of SOA and distributed systems Experience working in Agile and onsite/offshore delivery models Strong hands-on experience with REST and SOAP APIs Solid understanding of API concepts and integrations Mandatory API security experience, including: OAuth 2.0, JWT token validation Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure with strong understanding of Azure networking Experience with CI/CD pipelines with strong experience using GitHub (or similar version control tools) Working knowledge of Jenkins, Kubernetes Ability to integrate builds, testing, and deployments into CI/CD workflows Database experience with AZURE Databases Messaging experience with Kafka, Solace, or IBM MQ Experience with Terraform (Infrastructure as Code): Authoring and maintaining Terraform modules Provisioning Azure resources via IaC Terraform integration in CI/CD pipelines Proficiency with GitHub Actions Experience enabling automated testing in pipelines Backend experience with: Python Node.js Experience with event‑driven or messaging‑based architecture ➕ NICE‑TO‑HAVE Experience with GraphQL Experience with APM / monitoring tools (Dynatrace, Log Analytics) Linux and shell scripting Understanding of Test Driven (TDD) and Behavior Driven (BDD) development Understanding of Mainframe files, SFTP setup and Control-M Tasks and Responsibilities: • Collaborate with technical lead, but work independently under minimal supervision to complete assigned tasks; develop code, unit test and support system and UAT testing. • Document the technical/business functionality of the software developed. • Prepare production readiness checklists. • Immediately raise any questions or concerns with Northern Trust technical lead to avoid any impact to the project deliverables and timelines. • Ensure that non-functional requirements such as security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability are being considered when developing solutions.
